Torquay United manager Jimmy Ball says he is proud of his side's efforts as they drew 1-1 with National League South leaders Maidstone United.
The Gulls took a 27th-minute lead when Frankie Hvid put Harry Shield's cross past his own goalkeeper.
The hosts should have made it 2-0 five minutes later when Matt Jay was fouled in the penalty area, but Cody Cooke saw his penalty saved by Lenny Holden.
Deon Moore had a good chance saved by Holden 10 minutes after the break, and the goalkeeper's good work was rewarded with six minutes left when Hvid made amends for his own goal as he looped home a header.
The point sees the Gulls slip to 14th in the table, nine points off Maidstone who are still top and four points adrift of the play-off places.
"I'm proud of the fight, I'm proud of the spirit, I'm proud of how we played," Ball told BBC Radio Devon.
"The lads stuck together, we had one lapse and it ends up in our net and that is tough to take.
"I try to put myself in the shoes of football supporters, as I'm one as well, and if my team battle like that in conditions like that and never give up and keep going then you're proud of your team.
"But it's not three points and that's all I really care about is the three points.
"We haven't been able to deliver them again and that's disappointing for me, because I think we did enough to."
