Nomination of presidential candidates is scheduled from 3rd November to 14th November. Those who have picked up nomination forms of parties, coalitions and individuals will simply have to present their nomination forms and credentials sometime between 3rd November and 14th November for the Independent Electoral Commission to determine whether they have met the eligibility standard to be duly declared as presidential candidates for the 5th December 2026 presidential election.
Apparently, four trends are taking shape in preparation for the 5th December 2026 presidential election: the NPP-led Alliance Coalition, the UDP-led Gambia First coalition, Coalition 2026 led by Talib Bensouda and Team Gambia Grand Coalition 2026 are mostly mentioned in the media. Foroyaa will find out whether there are other trends that are not captured by coalition agenda as we monitor what appears to be an election whose outcome is becoming very difficult to predict.
As far as Foroyaa is concerned the joining of coalitions by political leaders without the support of their members is leading to the growing of a silent majority whose ultimate decision will determine the winner of the 2026 presidential election. If those who conduct polls can accurately capture who constitute the silent majority and how they are likely to vote, one should be able to predict the outcome of the 5th December 2026 election.
