The mother of the youngest alleged victim of Alan Jones has told a court she “trusted” the 2GB broadcaster, but that her son’s “mood was different” when he returned home from a trip to Jones’s private farm.
Complainant A has testified that he was a 17-year-old schoolboy and alone at the farm when Jones allegedly kissed him, put his tongue inside his mouth and touched him on the bottom (The Guardian).
Complainant A’s mother wept as she was shown a letter she received from her son 10 days after he returned from the farm. “The reason I don’t go to sleep until late is because when I close my eyes, I get flashbacks,” he wrote (SMH).
The mother said that after reading the letter, she asked her son if he wanted to report it to the police. “[He said] it probably is not a big thing in the scheme of it, and it will be my word against him and he’s a powerful man,” she said (SMH).
Emails read to the court reveal Jones developed a relationship with the boy over several years. The accused also helped pay $600,000 off the mother’s home loan, and provided $100,000 to assist with the completion of their home (ABC).
