Google has added Gemini Notebook as a Connected App in its Gemini chatbot, allowing users to create notebooks, manage sources, save notes, and retrieve information directly from conversations. The update brings notebook-related tasks into the chat interface, reducing the need to switch between separate sections while researching or organizing information.
The feature is available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers and users with personal Google accounts.
Gemini Users Can Manage Notebooks Within Chats
Gemini Notebook, formerly known as NotebookLM, can now be accessed by typing @Gemini Notebook into a Gemini conversation. Users can then ask the chatbot to create a notebook, edit or delete an existing one, and manage the sources stored in it.
The integration also lets users save notes and ask questions based on information already in their notebooks. This could help students, researchers, and professionals organize material and retrieve relevant details without leaving their ongoing conversations.
Google says Gemini can automatically identify when the Connected App is relevant to a request. Users therefore do not always need to invoke it manually.

Sources and Research Material Can be Updated
The integration supports several tasks, including adding, updating, or deleting notebook sources. Users can also request a list of their notebooks and the sources associated with each one.
For example, users can ask Gemini to find information in a notebook about a particular subject or use existing notebook material to answer a question. Google's examples include researching solar farm market trends, organizing course material, and retrieving information about butterfly migration.
The feature is intended to make existing research easier to access while allowing users to manage their material through natural-language prompts.
Feature Available Across Account Types
According to Android Authority, the Connected App is available to personal Google account holders, Workspace Individual subscribers, and Google Workspace customers.
The integration also builds on Gemini's existing Connected Apps ecosystem, which allows the chatbot to work with supported services without requiring users to leave their conversations.
Google's move gives Gemini users a more direct way to organize research and retrieve information from saved sources. For people who regularly use notebooks to manage study material, work documents or research projects, the integration could make everyday tasks more convenient.
The update further expands Gemini's role from answering questions to helping users manage the information behind those answers.
