TORONTO — Nest Wealth Asset Management has appointed Sean Tascatan as Chief Investment and Growth Officer, marking a further step in the firm’s evolution as it continues to develop and advance its investment offering, technology platform and client experience for Canadian investors.
At the centre of this evolution is a renewed focus on how portfolios are designed and managed, with Nest Wealth developing a new investment framework informed by institutional asset-allocation principles.
Tascatan joins Nest Wealth with more than 15 years of experience in the investment management industry, including managing and co-managing award-winning funds. Most recently, he was Lead Portfolio Manager of Starlight Capital’s $400 million Diversified Equities platform, where he oversaw portfolio construction, risk management and the allocation of capital across sectors and regions. He previously led a range of dividend-focused mandates at an independent Canadian asset manager and co-managed portfolios of $3 billion and $500 million as a member of the Equity Income team at Sentry Investments. He also served as a Portfolio Manager at BMO Private Wealth. At Nest Wealth, he will lead the firm’s investment strategy and asset allocation framework.

His appointment comes as Nest Wealth moves into a new course, building on the firm’s longstanding focus on disciplined, goals-based investing and its role in bringing digital wealth management to Canadian investors. In his new role, he will lead the development of Nest Wealth’s investment strategy and offering, alongside the firm’s ongoing evolution of its client experience and technology.
At the centre of this evolution is a renewed focus on how portfolios are designed and managed, with Nest Wealth developing a new investment framework informed by institutional asset-allocation principles and adapted to the needs of a broader range of Canadian investors.
Nest Wealth is undertaking a broader evolution of its business, beginning with an enhanced approach to portfolio construction. Moving beyond the traditional 60/40 mix of stocks and bonds, Nest Wealth portfolios will include a dedicated allocation to liquid alternatives alongside equities and fixed income, with each alternative strategy serving a defined role as a portfolio enhancer, diversifier or inflation protector. The approach draws on principles of the Total Portfolio Approach used by leading institutional investors, where each investment is assessed by its contribution to the portfolio as a whole. The firm is also upgrading its investment platform and technology infrastructure, and is introducing a new mobile app and a redesigned client experience.
The evolution extends beyond the immediate platform and portfolio enhancements. Nest Wealth is also building the foundations for the continued development of its investment offering, with plans to explore additional solutions and strategies designed to respond to changing investor needs over time.
