Dre Greenlaw started at linebacker for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 5 against the Seattle Seahawks. Greenlaw did not finish the game as he earned a second quarter ejection when he headbutted a 49ers player on the sideline.
Greenlaw had pushed Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold as he was going out of bounds. Referees threw a flag on the play and Greenlaw was then surrounded by angry Seattle players who wanted to stand up for their quarterback. Among them was linebacker Ernest Jones IV who may have taken a step towards Greenlaw. The 49ers’ linebacker did not hesitation and headbutted Jones.
Whatever anyone thought about Greenlaw’s hit on Darnold, it was forgotten and Greenlaw was immediately disqualified.

Greenlaw has been dealing with injuries this season, but has started every game. He is the team’s second-leading tackler behind Fred Warner.
