A fisherman, Alhassan Morray, 27, has been remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown over allegations of wounding and assaulting Ibrahim Salieu Turay at Tambacula Wharf, Cape Road, Aberdeen.
Morray appeared before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2, where he faced three charges: wounding with intent, malicious wounding and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
The charges are brought under Sections 18, 20 and 47 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861, respectively.
According to the prosecution, the alleged incident took place on September 15, 2026, when Morray allegedly wounded Turay with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm. He is further accused of malicious wounding and assaulting the same complainant, causing actual bodily harm.
The charges were read and explained to Morray, but no plea was taken as the matter is proceeding by way of committal proceedings.
Prosecutor Inspector Florence Wilson told the court that the defendant had been served with a copy of the case and inquiry file. She also requested subpoenas for prosecution witnesses who were absent from the hearing.
Magistrate Fornah refused bail, citing the seriousness of the charges, and ordered Morray’s remand at the Male Correctional Facility.
The court adjourned the case to October 29, 2026.
The allegations remain unproven, and the defendant has yet to be convicted of any offence.
