The Attorney General's Office reported yesterday that the Public Prosecution has ordered the pretrial detention of 10 officials of the state Water and Sanitation Company.
The officials include the Chairman and the Contract Officer and the Delivery Committee.
The Attorny General's Office said the procedure was based on the report of the Audit Bureau on the examination of four decades of supply of water pipes for municipalities worth 16.639 million dinars.
Investigations revealed:
The procurement of non-rust resistant pipes
The violation of stainlesssteel specifications
The violation of the country of origin requirement
The deviation in enforcement of contract award regulations .
The investigation also showed the exchange of 4.459 million dinars for a contrary supply, while the real value of supplied materials did not exceeded 1.7 million dinars.
