The vice-presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has ruled out withdrawing from the 2027 presidential race in favour of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing the latter’s Presidential Campaign Council of launching unnecessary attacks against his party.
Kwankwaso stated this in a Facebook post, insisting that the NDC presidential ticket, comprising Peter Obi and himself, would not withdraw in favour of the ADC or any other political party.
He also dismissed allegations that the NDC ticket was working for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), describing such claims as unfounded.

“I have noted with deep concern the conduct of the ADC campaign team. The attacks directed at me, our presidential candidate His Excellency Peter Obi, and our party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), are unnecessary and unhelpful,” he said.
Kwankwaso accused the ADC Presidential Campaign Council of concentrating on attacking the NDC rather than presenting its presidential candidate’s credentials and achievements to Nigerians.
He alleged that the ADC campaign team was attempting to create the impression that the NDC was working for the ruling party or would withdraw from the presidential race at the last minute in favour of the ADC candidate.
According to him, the ADC campaign council should instead focus on responding to allegations levelled against its presidential candidate by Vice-President Kashim Shettima.
“The ADC-PCC would be better served directing its energy toward rebutting the serious allegations levelled against their candidate by the Vice President, His Excellency Kashim Shettima, instead of targeting me and His Excellency Peter Obi,” he said.
The former Kano State governor warned that the ADC campaign team might attempt to mislead NDC supporters on the eve of the election by claiming that the party intended to withdraw its presidential ticket.
He, however, insisted that neither he nor Obi would step down for the ADC or any other party.
“Let me state clearly and unequivocally: we will not withdraw our candidature for the ADC or any other party. We remain confident in our capacity, competence, and readiness to lead Nigeria,” Kwankwaso declared.
He further maintained that the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket, which he referred to as the OK ticket, was neither working for nor acting on behalf of the APC or any of its candidates.
Kwankwaso said the NDC remained confident in its ability to provide credible leadership and challenge the ruling party, arguing that the APC-led government had failed Nigerians.
He also rejected the suggestion that the ADC offered a better alternative to the APC, insisting that the NDC ticket presented a credible option for Nigerians seeking political change.
“The APC-led government has failed Nigerians. The ADC offers no better alternative,” he said.
According to Kwankwaso, the NDC ticket was backed by a record of achievements, competence, credibility and support across Northern and Southern Nigeria.
He described the ticket as a platform for national unity and addressing the country’s challenges in security, education, agriculture, infrastructure, healthcare and the economy.
Kwankwaso also described the NDC as the country’s most formidable and viable opposition party, urging its supporters and other Nigerians to remain committed to securing victory for the party.
“I therefore urge all our supporters and well-meaning Nigerians to continue working toward the victory of our great party,” he said.
