Colombo, Oct. 23 (Daily Mirror) - A satyagraha campaign demanding the release and pardon of Venerable Galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thero entered its eighth day today at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, amid a court order directing participants to vacate the premises.
Police officers from the Cinnamon Gardens (Kurunduwatta) Police Station visited the protest site last night and informed the monks and other participants of the directive issued by the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court.
However, the protesters continued their demonstration despite the order, leading to a tense situation at the site.
Meanwhile, Pivithuru Hela Urumaya Leader and Attorney-at-Law Udaya Gammanpila lodged a complaint with the Cinnamon Gardens Police, alleging that several participants in the satyagraha had been taken into custody.
