FC AshantiGold 04 and Asante Kotoko played out a 1-1 draw in their Ghana Premier League Matchday 8 encounter at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.
Samuel Fosu Boateng opened the scoring for the hosts in the 41st minute with a stunning long-range effort to give the Miners the advantage before the break.
Kotoko responded after the restart, with Patrick Asiedu restoring parity in the 65th minute through a powerful free-kick that beat the AshantiGold goalkeeper.
Both sides pushed for a winner in the closing stages, but neither could find a decisive breakthrough as the points were shared in the Ashanti derby.
The result offers AshantiGold a point at home after their 1-0 defeat to Aduana FC in Matchday 7. The Miners had previously beaten FC Samartex 1996 by the same scoreline on home soil, with Raphael Ankamah converting a penalty to secure the victory.
For Kotoko, the draw follows their 2-1 victory over Young Apostles in their previous league outing, when second-half goals from Hubert Gyau and Solomon Nsoh Asaah secured all three points for the Porcupine Warriors.
The stalemate means both teams miss the opportunity to claim maximum points as the 2026/27 campaign gathers momentum.
AshantiGold will now turn their attention to their Matchday 9 trip to Swedru All Blacks, while Kotoko will look to build on the away point as they continue their push up the league table.
