According to Covane, a witness who was inside a double-storey building on the premises said he heard gunshots from upstairs.
The witness allegedly rushed outside to establish where the shots had come from and saw a man running towards a white Chevrolet Aveo hatchback.
“He did not see whether the man had an object in his hands, but the motor vehicle sped off,” Covane said.
He added that there were possibly two other occupants already inside the vehicle.
Victims declared dead at the scene
Covane said crime scene personnel were summoned after the two businessmen were found shot inside their charcoal-coloured Ford Ranger at the gate of the premises.
“Both the driver and the passenger suffered gunshot wounds,” he said.
ER24 paramedics declared both men dead at the scene.
The victims were identified as Kegomodicoe Lekone, who was driving the vehicle, and his twin brother, Keabecoe Lekone.
Both were known as the owners of Ekhayeni Lounge Bar.
Murder cases have been opened at Mangaung Police Station.
