We are in Arkansas for the last big gravel race of the year at Big Sugar! While the season is winding down, gravel tech is hot as ever with tons of bikes released late this summer. We caught up with four riders riding four of those new releases to learn more.
Cole Paton shows us the Giant Revolt. Haley Smith is on the Factor Elara. Matt Wilson is riding the Scott Addict Gravel. And last but not least, Bradyn Lange shows us around his Canyon Grail.

Matt Wilson — Scott Addict Gravel

(Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Big gears and wide-ranging cassettes are all the rage. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)50mm tires look almost small with the new Scott. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Wilson is a Pirelli athlete and has loved the new gravel tire line. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Wilson, who has embraced road racing, has also gone super narrow with the bars. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)And short cranks to make the bike a complete modern masterpiece. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)
Haley Smith — Factor Elara

(Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)The Elara is built around the premise of making a large clearance gravel bike with road bike geometry. Cole Paton — Giant Revolt Advanced SL
Cole Paton is still riding the prototype color-way we saw in Kansas this May for Unbound. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Unlike some of his peers, Paton has gone with a 46t ring. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Still, like the other Shimano athletes, its 10-51 and an XTR mech in the rear. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Giant has listed the tire clearance at 53, but 55mm fits just fine. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)New wheels as well from Cadex. These flare out to offer a broader rim bead for flat prevention. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Paton went with two different tires. Terreno T30 took the rear. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)And the slightly larger Terreno XC Race was on the front. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)
Bradyn Lange — Canyon Grail
Bradyn Lange was key to the Canyon marketing push for their new Grail. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Lange has gone through a few different sizes of the bike. He has now settled on a medium. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Canyon really pushed the clearance wide on the new Grail. This is a 2.25 Thunder Burt fitting with plenty of room to spare. The ‘Burts’ do run a bit small. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Same big tires for the rear. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Lange is on the new gravel standard for Shimano: short Dura-Ace cranks. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)A little bit of team branding and the sponsors to round out the bike’s details. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)Mountain bike pedals to keep things consistent with Little and Big Sugar so close together. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)And of course, Canyon had to produce a aero, ambition front end. (Photo: Logan Jones-Wilkins/Velo)
