Rubio Tells Cubans: Partner With the CIA and Take Your Country Back

“To those who seek to create positive change in Cuba – now is the time,” Rubio posted. “The disappointment of failed promises, corruption, and the privileged lives of only a few; seize this opportunity to create the change you desire through a discrete partnership with the CIA.”

That is not diplomatic soft talk. It is an open invitation for Cubans who have watched the regime hoard power and resources while the rest of the island sinks deeper into blackouts, shortages, and decay. The Castro-era system has spent decades selling failed promises. A handful of insiders live well. Everyone else deals with the consequences of a police state that treats its own people as disposable.

Rubio’s message fits the Trump administration’s clear line: Cuba is not some distant curiosity. It is a corrupt failed state sitting 90 miles from American shores, used as a staging ground for hostile actors, and a standing national security problem. Maximum pressure has already produced new sanctions targeting the regime’s financial networks, military procurement, and elite cash pipelines. The island’s energy and supply crises are not mysterious accidents. They are the predictable result of a system that prioritizes control and foreign alliances over the basic needs of its citizens.

By calling for discreet partnerships with the CIA, Rubio is signaling that the United States is prepared to work with those inside Cuba who want something better than more of the same. The regime has long depended on fear, surveillance, and the myth that resistance is impossible. This undercuts that. It tells ordinary Cubans and officials alike that the door is open if they decide the status quo is no longer worth defending.

The Cuban people have endured enough. Rubio just put the offer in plain English: the time to act is now.-DTP
