Kang Hoon-sik, the outgoing presidential chief of staff, said at a briefing at Cheong Wa Dae that day, "President Lee today appointed Commissioner Lim as the new presidential chief of staff." He added, "Chief of Staff Lim served as a member of the 22nd National Assembly and as commissioner of the National Tax Service. He is a politician with a background as an economic bureaucrat who combines extensive administrative experience with political acumen." Kang said Lim "contributed to establishing tax justice as the first National Tax Service commissioner under the Lee Jae-myung administration and faithfully carried out, in the field of policy, the president's governing philosophy of lowering the walls of inequality so that all citizens can enjoy better lives."
Kang also stressed, "Having experience in both the National Assembly and the government, he is the right person to better reflect the voice of the people in state affairs and to accelerate policy results through cooperation among the party, the government and the presidential office." He added, "As the most senior aide supporting the president on the front lines, we expect him to carry out the president's directives on restoring livelihoods and reforming society, and to build a Republic of Korea where the people prosper together."
