Mitchell Starc's update on Steve Smith
By Jon Healy
By Jon Healy

Steve Smith didn't field yesterday after copping a blow to the helmet while batting.
This morning he's taken part in some warm-ups but we still aren't sure what the plan is for him, and nor is Mitchell Starc by the sound of things.
"He was a little bit rattled, or not rattled, but he copped that knock yesterday," Starc tells Fox, clearly thinking he's slipped up when he said "rattled".
"This morning it looks like he's got the life back in him. Good signs. I'm not sure what the plan is for him today but he's got a smile on his face. He looks good today."
We'll know more in eight minutes when the teams mass on the boundary.
Aussies ready for victory push

It was another incredibly professional display by the Australians once again yesterday and it has them set up for a comprehensive victory today.
Aiden Markram and Wiaan Mulder hold the keys for South Africa to cause an enormous upset, but there is still plenty of batting to come after them too.

The state of play

The equations are pretty simple today:
- South Africa is 4-102 with Aiden Markram (45) and Wiaan Mulder (5) at the crease
- The Proteas are still 319 runs from an unlikely victory
- Australia needs six more wickets
- We are supposed to squeeze in 98 overs today
The only complicating factor will be whether light will cut the day short as it did on the first three days?

Hello and welcome to ABC Sport's live blog of the fifth day of the opening Test between Australia and South Africa at Kingsmead in Durban.
Yes, you read that right: the FIFTH day of a Test match.
Sure, we had a little help from the overhead conditions robbing us of 60 overs in the first three days, but sometimes it's about the destination rather than the journey.
We're here and all three results are technically still possible, so let's get into it.
