Colombo, Oct. 12 (Daily Mirror) - Other religious leaders will soon be targeted in the same way that Venerable Galagoda Atte Gnanasara Thera is being harassed, United Republic Front Leader Patali Champika Ranawaka said today.
“Buddhist monks are referred to as ‘Padada Bhikkhus’ (thuggish monks). However, it was the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) that formed the Kudapola Rahula Balakaya during the 1989 insurrection and killed 42 monks,” the former minister said.
“Other religious leaders should also be careful, as they too could soon face suppression,” he added.
