For 26-year-old South African content creator Michelle Sekwena, getting dressed has not always been a simple task.
The social media personality has openly documented her experience with gigantomastia, a rare, benign medical condition characterised by the rapid, progressive and disproportionate enlargement of breast tissue.
Her journey has included months of rapid breast growth, a traumatic breast reduction operation and renewed concerns after her breasts appeared to grow again.
In a video shared previously, Sekwena spoke about feeling uncomfortable wearing a T-shirt, explaining that she usually preferred hoodies.
“I do not like my look because I feel very uncomfortable walking around wearing T-shirts all the time,” she said.
She explained that she had worn a crop top underneath her T-shirt, along with a sports bra.
A rapid change
Sekwena began experiencing significant breast growth towards the end of 2023. The changes were accompanied by symptoms including pain, redness and itching.
Her breast size reportedly increased from an A-cup to a G-cup within months.
The changes affected her daily life and confidence. She also spoke about receiving unwanted attention from people who mistakenly assumed she was pregnant.
As her condition progressed, breast reduction surgery became part of her treatment journey.
A traumatic operation
In 2025, Sekwena's social media followers rallied together to help fund her breast reduction surgery.
However, the operation was reportedly complicated by extreme blood loss. Sekwena lost four litres of blood and required massive blood transfusions to survive.
The experience added another difficult chapter to her health journey after months of dealing with the physical effects of gigantomastia.
The surgery was intended to reduce the size of her breasts and address the challenges associated with their rapid growth.
In April 2026, videos shared on social media drew attention to what appeared to be renewed breast growth.
The development prompted questions about whether breast tissue can enlarge again after reduction surgery.
Sekwena has previously explained that she was unsure whether her breasts were growing again, noting that their size could change during her menstrual cycle. She has also spoken about seeking medical advice to establish what was happening.
Breast size can change for several reasons, including hormonal fluctuations. However, the cause of any apparent regrowth in Sekwena's case cannot be established from social media videos alone.
Her experience has drawn attention to the challenges of living with gigantomastia and the uncertainty that can accompany treatment.
Her message to others
Throughout her journey, Sekwena has used her social media platform to encourage people to pay attention to their health and seek medical advice when they notice unusual changes.
“If you see anything abnormal, please go and see the doctor,” she said in a previous message to her followers.
She also encouraged people to prioritise their well-being and practise self-care.
“Take care of yourself, and love yourself in any situation you are in. Take care of your health,” she said.
