Junior doctors staged a protest at Osmania General Hospital (OGH) in Hyderabad on Monday, October 12, 2026, demanding improvements in hospital infrastructure and the repair of non-functional medical equipment that they said has been affecting patient care and clinical training.
N. Chandrakanth Reddy, president of the Osmania Medical College Junior Doctors Association (OMC JUDA), said several essential facilities and diagnostic machines at the hospital were deficient or non-functional. "Facilities ranging from ventilators to the catheterisation laboratory are deficient. Several diagnostic facilities and machines, including X-ray and endoscopy equipment, have not been working for months," he said.
The protest was held at the hospital from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mr. Reddy said the junior doctors were prepared to intensify the agitation in the coming days if the authorities failed to respond to their demands.
"A meeting had been held with Health Secretary Christina Z. Chongthu a week ago, but the association had not received any concrete assurance. We have been waiting for seven days after the meeting, but there has been no proper assurance. That is why we decided to protest," he added.
The junior doctors are seeking time-bound action to address infrastructure deficiencies and ensure that essential medical equipment is functional.
