Bermudian basketball player Aria Mosquera has been named to IMG Academy’s Girls’ Junior National Basketball Team in Bradenton, Florida.
Mosquera, 17, joined IMG Academy in January 2026 and is now a junior in the 11th grade. The team is coached by Kevin Fields and Morgan Windsor.
Mosquera was named the 2024 Bermuda School Sports Federation girls varsity basketball MVP after scoring 13 points in the final to help her Saltus team win the championship.
She captained the Saltus girls’ basketball team in her freshman and sophomore years and was named Saltus MVP in 2024 and 2025.
Mosquera, whose sister is golfer Sienna Mosquera, received the Denton Huddle Award in 2023 and twice qualified for the Butterfield Bermuda Front Street Mile, winning silver in 2024.
She was a member of the Bermuda Youth Basketball League, where she competed as the only female player.
In 2024, Mosquera advocated for and pioneered a Bermuda All-Star Girls Basketball Team that played former women’s national team players in a one-day tournament to raise awareness of girls’ competitive basketball in Bermuda.
She is a member of the Bermuda Basketball Association and Hurricanes Basketball programme.
Mosquera said she is grateful for her playing opportunities in Bermuda and particularly for training under coach Ralph Scott Senior, who has been a mentor and supporter of her game.
Meanwhile, her coaches have acknowledged her motivation, resilience, passion, determination and disciplined work ethic.
Mosquera has attended basketball training camps in the United States, including Made Hoops Girls in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, Playmaker Academy under New York coach Ken Dawson, and elite university exposure camps.
She has a 3.9/4.0 GPA.
She said she hopes to continue her basketball career at university and eventually represent Bermuda in women’s basketball.
