Aguer Madut was appointed chairman of the Nebraska chapter, effective Oct. 10. Bai, who previously led the chapter, has moved to the national leadership as a senior adviser.
Manyiel said the new leadership would focus on strengthening organisational discipline, accountability and representation of SPLM members and South Sudanese communities.
“This leadership team has a clear mandate: to uphold discipline, enforce accountability, strengthen our national organization, and deliver responsible representation for SPLM members and South Sudanese communities,” Manyiel said.
“We will lead with engagement and purpose, expand constructive engagement, and ensure that every office and chapter advances the SPLM mission with integrity and measurable results,” he added.
The secretariat said the reorganisation was intended to improve coordination between the national leadership and state chapters and strengthen engagement with South Sudanese communities in the United States and abroad.
It also pledged to build partnerships with churches, civic organisations, community leaders, policymakers and SPLM supporters, while promoting peace, reconciliation and unity among South Sudanese communities.
The secretariat called on members, supporters and partners to support the new leadership and work towards the movement’s stated goals.
