Kuwait opened new road links and roundabouts at the Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge project at 4:00 am on Thursday, October 15, as part of ongoing efforts to improve traffic flow along the Sixth Ring Road and routes connecting surrounding residential areas.
Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan inspected the project ahead of the opening to assess the readiness of the completed works. The opening was coordinated with the General Traffic Department.
According to KUNA, the newly-opened routes included a service road running parallel to the Sixth Ring Road towards Al-Maseela, as well as two roundabouts providing access between Road 604, the Kabd direction, the Sixth Ring Road towards Al-Maseela and the Sabah Al-Nasser area.
The southwestern roundabout serves traffic travelling from Road 604 towards Kabd, connecting motorists to the Sixth Ring Road in the direction of Al-Maseela. The southeastern roundabout provides access for motorists travelling from the Sixth Ring Road towards Al-Maseela to Road 604 in the direction of Sabah Al-Nasser.
Al-Mashaan said the openings formed part of the project’s phased implementation and reflected the ministry’s efforts to complete key infrastructure projects, improve road network efficiency and facilitate smoother traffic movement. She added that the ministry continued to monitor construction sites through to project completion and commissioning to ensure that the works met technical specifications and safety requirements before being opened to motorists.
The minister also stressed the importance of coordination between ministry teams and the relevant authorities to maintain road safety and ensure that motorists benefited from the new routes. Drivers were urged to follow road signs and traffic instructions during the opening period and monitor announcements from the General Traffic Department for any temporary diversions or closures near the project.
The latest openings followed the completion and opening of other sections of the Sabah Al-Nasser Bridge project in August, forming part of the wider plan to improve traffic movement along the Sixth Ring Road and roads serving neighbouring residential areas.
