October 16th saw the departure of yet another aid shipment organized by the volunteer organization “Entrepreneurs for Peace” (Uzņēmēji mieram).
The latest convoy departed from Rīga for Ukraine, combining support for units of the Armed Forces and Ukraine’s energy infrastructure. This convoy is being organized with cooperation partners including large businesses such as Latvenergo, Tet, Augstsprieguma tīkls, and Sadales tīkls, as well as numerous other Latvian entrepreneurs and supporters.
Latvenergo is donating a considerable fleet of 35 vehicles, while volunteer drivers from Latvenergo and Tet will assist in transporting them to Ukraine.
Augstsprieguma tīkls is providing a donation for Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, and the heavy machinery donated by Sadales tīkls will be delivered to units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
“Ukraine’s struggle against Russian aggression is also a fight for the security of Latvia and all of Europe. Therefore, our support for Ukraine must be continuous, purposeful, and – most importantly – practical. Every vehicle and every piece of equipment delivered to Ukraine represents a tangible contribution to strengthening its defensive capabilities. I am grateful to Latvian entrepreneurs and everyone involved in providing this aid, as it is through concrete actions that we demonstrate that Latvia stands, and will continue to stand, with Ukraine until its victory,” said Minister of Defence Raivis Melnis.
“We may be facing one of the most decisive periods of the war – the winter of 2026/2027 – which will mark five years since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine and the twelfth year since the start of Russian aggression and the occupation of Crimea. While providing support throughout the entire war has been critically important, such assistance is now even more vital than before. We can see how essential the previously supplied equipment and vehicles are—both for logistics and for carrying out various tasks all along the front line. Therefore, as our donors and entrepreneurs say, we must do everything in our power to stop the war where it began,” said Laura Skrodele, Director of the ‘Entrepreneurs for Peace’ (Uzņēmēji mieram) foundation.
Kateryna Pasynchuk, a representative of the Embassy of Ukraine in Latvia, and Raivis Melnis, Latvia’s Minister of Defence, participated in the event marking the departure of the convoy.
Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the “Entrepreneurs for Peace” foundation has brought together Latvian businesses and the public to provide practical, essential aid to Ukraine. To date, the total value of support provided to Ukraine through the foundation and its partners exceeds 23 million euros. The support includes vehicles, drones, generators, energy-related and other technical equipment, construction and reconstruction projects in Ukraine, as well as assistance for Ukraine’s defenders and civilians.
