Utah Utes defensive tackle Jamal Wallace has been suspended from the program after he was arrested following an alleged domestic incident earlier this month.
Wallace, who transferred from Tennessee, was arrested by Salt Lake City Police on Oct 11 after a woman he had been dating said he forcibly raped her and then shared videos of the incident on a social media platform with others.
According to KSL reporter Josh Furlong, "The woman said the two were on the couch having a conversation about "infidelity and their relationship" when he suddenly grabbed her head and forced her to perform oral sex on him, according to a probable cause statement.
After about five minutes, the woman said she asked to resume the conversation but Wallace "continued to forcefully hold her head down," according to the statement."
The woman allegedly tried to break free and started to cry, but it did not "deter him in the least."
"The incident eventually stopped when he "aggressively told her to stand up," before he pushed her down on an ottoman and forced his way into having sex with her, according to the documents. He eventually moved her to the bedroom, where he "pushed her down" again and continued to forcibly have sex with her, while saying "she belonged to him," according to the documents."
Wallace allegedly took the woman's phone and recorded video of the incident without her knowledge and then sending it to five people on Snapchat. The woman later found out about the video being distributed. This was confirmed by SLCPD, who said they found videos of the incident, in which the phone was "in his possession."
Wallace was arrested on five counts of distribution of an intimate image and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail. Following his arrest, Utah put him on an "indefinite suspension" from the program.
"We were made aware of the situation with Jamal Wallace on Oct. 11, and he was immediately placed on an indefinite suspension from the program," a Utah Athletics official confirmed in a statement to Roundtable Sports. "We take these matters seriously. As this is a pending legal matter, we have no further comment at this time."
Wallace went viral earlier this year for his techniques while studying film. He set up chairs and projected video against the wall. The video caught the attention of several former NFL players and racked up millions of views.
Wallace transferred to Utah ahead of the 2026 college football season. He started his career under Josh Heupel, but left Knoxville after two years with the Vols. He has only experienced limited snaps as a backup for the Utes this season.
