U.S. Vice President JD Vance went inside the Cincinnati Bengals locker room after their practice on October 21 to greet the players, but it didn’t go to plan.
President Donald Trump has found ways to ingratiate himself with many people in the sports world, bringing out multiple NFL players and legends to publicly support and endorse him for the job he is doing as the country’s President.
Vice President Vance tried to interact with an NFL team after their latest practice session and found the reception much colder than what the President has received around athletes over the last two years.
JD Vance’s cold interaction with the Bengals has fans talking
Vice President Vance stood in the locker room as the Bengals players finished practice, with nobody except TE Drew Sample shaking Vance’s hand, with the other players seemingly ignoring Vance’s presence.
Another video did show Vance interacting with star WR Ja’Marr Chase, but outside of that, it seemed to be a very cold reception, something that fans did not ignore on social media.
“One guy on the entire team acknowledges the existence of the vice president of the United States who is standing just feet away. Humiliating,” said one fan, labelling this as a humiliating experience for the VP.
“I’ve never seen a group of people less enthusiastic to meet the vice president. They barely looked his way,” said another fan.
“Looks like he got ignored by 95% of the roster lol,” was the main takeaway for one fan.
“interesting that most of them ignored him,” observed a fan.
“Good for the Bengal players. Vance is an obnoxious jerk,” were the thoughts of another fan.
The Bengals were likely exhausted after an intensive training session before a high-stakes clash against the 4-2 Baltimore Ravens.
Vance is an Ohio native and likely roots for the Bengals, so he will probably feel negatively about this interaction. At least he did get visible support from TE Sample and spoke to Chase in the hallway; otherwise, this would have looked a lot worse for the popular support the VP carries.
