Ravens Take Important Step Toward Return of Rookie WR Ja'Kobi Lane

The Baltimore Ravens made a couple transactional moves on Tuesday that indicate the impending return of rookie wide receiver Ja'Kobi Lane.

The team released wide receiver Chris Moore from the active roster, and dropped wide receiver Xavier Guillory from the practice squad.

Lane, who suffered a fractured wrist injury during his regular-season debut with the Ravens in Week 1, is eligible to return from the injured reserve this week. The assumption is Moore will take Guillory's spot on the practice squad as Lane rejoins the Ravens' 53-man active roster.

Baltimore head coach Jesse Minter is not ruling out the possibility that Lane could play in this coming Sunday's Week 6 matchup against the Cleveland Browns.

"Ja'Kobi's done a really good job," Minter told reporters on Monday. "When you're on IR, how much can you do physically to be ready to play that first week back? He's in a real good place from a conditioning standpoint. We'll see how that shakes out on Wednesday."

Lane generated serious buzz in training camp, gaining the admiration and trust of superstar quarterback Lamar Jackson. When the third-round draft pick returns to action, he should be a major part of the Ravens' passing offense.

Sunday's game against the Browns will kick off at 1 p.m. ET.
