James Cook put the ball on the ground again Monday night.
This time, the Buffalo Bills caught a break.
Cook fumbled at midfield with 6:12 left in the third quarter after Rams linebacker Nate Landman punched the ball loose. Officials initially signaled Los Angeles possession.
The Bills didn't leave the field.
After players were separated at the bottom of the pile, Dawson Knox emerged with the football. The officials then changed the ruling and awarded possession to Buffalo.
ESPN play-by-play announcer Joe Buck said during the broadcast that he couldn't remember seeing a team initially awarded possession before the ruling was changed without a replay review.
It was Cook's third fumble of the season. He has lost one.
The turnover scare continued what has otherwise been a productive night for Cook, who had 55 rushing yards and a touchdown in the first half.
