Regime Change Row: BJP Hits Back as Prashant Bhushan & Opposition Back Call for Political Shift
A major political row has erupted over remarks advocating regime change amid ongoing opposition protests in the national capital. The controversy escalated after student leader Neha Bora cited Bangladesh's Gen Z uprising, drawing sharp reactions. Lawyer Prashant Bhushan asserted that seeking regime change is a democratic and constitutional right, while actor Prakash Raj defended the demand, emphasising that any political change in India must remain strictly peaceful through Mahatma Gandhi's path. Opposition figures maintained that their movement protests against alleged electoral malpractice under the slogan 'Vote Chor Gaddi Chhod'. The Bharatiya Janata Party mounted a fierce counterattack, alleging that dislodging the elected government has been the opposition's hidden agenda from the outset. Former Union Minister Smriti Irani dismissed the campaign as a political tantrum, asserting that in a democratic framework, governments can only be changed by citizens through elections.
Delhi Traffic Advisory for Connaught Place Stir; CJP Protests Likely to Affect Roads
Delhi Police have issued a comprehensive traffic advisory anticipating disruptions around Connaught Place from 3:00 PM onwards due to a demonstration planned by CJP at Central Park. Commuters have been advised to plan their journeys in advance, budget extra travel time, use public transport where possible, and follow instructions from traffic personnel. Roads such as Sansad Marg and Barakhamba Road are expected to be affected, with traffic diversions planned based on the ground situation. Authorities noted that security measures remain substantially relaxed compared to the heavy barricading, border checks, and internet shutdown witnessed on October 10. While border checkpoints have not been set up and public movement across Central Delhi remains largely unaffected, Central Park has been shut for administrative work. Police may permit a limited group of people to unfold the national flag and sing the national anthem at an alternative designated location rather than Central Park.
BJP Attacks Congress Over Tiranga March, Accuses Rahul Gandhi of Creating Disorder
The Bharatiya Janata Party mounted an attack on the Congress, with Union Ministers Arjun Ram Meghwal and Giriraj Singh criticising Rahul Gandhi and the opposition. The ministers alleged that the opposition seeks to incite disorder and anarchy. Meghwal pointed out violations in protocol regarding delegation meetings with the President of India and the submission of memorandums to the Chief Justice of India, noting that established traditions were disregarded without providing necessary evidence. Meanwhile, Singh accused the opposition of attempting to disrupt development.
Tiranga Rally In Delhi: Central Park Shut, Police Impose Curbs And Section 163 Ahead Of Stir
Delhi is on alert ahead of a planned Tiranga rally in Connaught Place. Prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita have been imposed across central parts of the national capital to maintain public peace and law and order. The New Delhi Municipal Council has closed Central Park for two days citing administrative reasons. Delhi Police announced that only eleven individuals are permitted to unfurl the national flag at an allotted spot, while urging the public to avoid participating in unauthorized assemblies. Law enforcement authorities held strategic meetings to ensure that office commuters are not disrupted on a working day, following previous confrontations and barricading during demonstrations earlier in the month. Political groups and student wings are reportedly mobilizing support for the march scheduled for the evening, while security personnel remain deployed to prevent mass gatherings and enforce prohibitory restrictions.
