Angel Reese was the driving force in the Atlanta Dream’s victory over the Golden State Valkyries, 79-65, in Game 2 of the WNBA Finals at Chase Center on Monday. The Dream tied the best-of-seven series at 1-1.
Reese finished with a double-double of 30 points and 16 rebounds, becoming the youngest player in league history to post such numbers in the WNBA Finals. The 26-year-old forward added three assists and two blocks in 34 minutes.
Atlanta’s win was a watershed moment, as it was the team’s first ever in the WNBA Finals. The Dream went to the ultimate round in 2010, 2011, and 2013, but they got swept in all of them.

Reese walked the talk after claiming that the Valkyries did not do anything to “mess up” the Dream in Game 1.
Reese, who shared a special moment with Sheryl Swoopes after Game 2, set the tempo, scoring 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting in the first half. She did not take her foot off the gas.
She said she is eager to see Atlanta “pull up” and “pop out” in Game 3 on Wednesday.
