Capybara triplets born at Everland will meet visitors starting on the 15th.
Samsung C&T's resort division said on the 14th that the triplets were born on the 28th of last month to a capybara pair both born in 2024 — a male named Dotom and a female named Dutum. Each newborn weighed about 1 kilogram at birth, and the pups are now nursing and growing in good health.
Capybaras, which inhabit rivers and wetlands in South America, are the largest living rodents. Newborns are born with full coats of fur and with their eyes open, and they can walk immediately.
Everland will put the triplets on display from the 15th at Ppupa Town, an outdoor ecological experience area inside the zoo, where they live with their parents. Viewing hours and locations may change depending on the pups' health and how well they adjust to the site. The park also plans online and offline events for visitors, including a contest to name the triplets.
"We are caring for the baby capybaras with great attention so they can grow up strong," an Everland official said.
