The following article contains spoilers from the episode of Coronation Street dated October 21. It hasn’t aired on ITV1 yet, but can be viewed on ITVX and YouTube.
Bethany Platt’s (Lucy Fallon) web of lies is beginning to form in Coronation Street as she works to hide the fact she’s pregnant with her mum’s ex-boyfriend’s baby.
Awks.
Bethany made the discovery of her pregnancy a few days ago and, after a trip to the doctors, she realised the father is Kit Green (Jacob Roberts).
As she quietly stressed, Bethany had to head to court to learn whether her mum Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) was going to go to prison for murder.
Up Next
Sarah was found not guilty, which meant she could return home. As Sarah began to focus on her future, Bethany did the same and decided to book an appointment at an abortion clinic.
Things took an unexpected turn for Bethany yesterday as she was forced to head to A&E. During the fight Sarah had with Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon), Bethany got caught in the middle injured her wrist. In the waiting room, a staff member asked Bethany if there was a chance she’s pregnant. She was forced to say yes, right in front of her mum.
Sarah’s excitement over the baby left Bethany feeling quite smothered, so she decided to reveal to her mum that she had booked an appointment for an abortion. Bethany let Sarah believe that the father is Ryan Connor (Ryan Prescott), and claimed that he wouldn’t want to have a baby with her.
Later, Sarah visited Kit in the hope she’d be able to persuade him to give their relationship another go. Kit still wasn’t keen, and then revealed that he slept with someone else while Sarah was behind bars.
Kit didn’t reveal who, but a past comment made by Bethany left Sarah with the conclusion that she knew who it was.
Bethany covered her tracks by telling Sarah that Kit slept with Jodie Ramsey (Olivia Frances-Brown).
This lie has just made things so much worse for Bethany.
A friendly reminder that Jodie knows Bethany slept with Kit, so if Sarah confronts her believing she’s the one who was involved with him, Jodie has the perfect weapon to turn the tables and blow Bethany’s secret wide open.
