The governor disclosed this in a statement following his visit to the market and victims receiving treatment at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), where he expressed condolences to families who lost loved ones and traders whose goods were destroyed in the incident.

“My heart goes out to the victims of the Oluku Market fire, especially the families who have lost loved ones and the traders whose livelihoods have been reduced to ashes,” Okpebholo said.
He expressed sympathy with those affected by the tragedy, saying he shared in their pain and would support efforts to help them recover from the losses.
