SANKHUWASABHA, Oct 20: The Khandbari-Kimathanka road has resumed operation following restoration work led by the Nepali Army.
The vital road connecting Nepal and China had remained closed for three months after a massive landslide in the Chhumsur area of Bhotkhola Rural Municipality-2. Large boulders completely blocked vehicular movement along the route.

The North-South (Koshi) Highway Project had sought the Nepali Army's assistance to clear the debris. A military team from the Chhumsur post under the 1 Development Group was deployed to the site.
The team used controlled explosives to break up the massive boulders, allowing the project team to clear the debris and reopen the road.
Project Director Ram Bahadur Gurung said explosives were necessary because of the size of the rocks displaced by the landslide.
The reopening is expected to improve access to key trade routes between Nepal and China, restoring an important transport link in the northern region.
