Ryan Fitzpatrick is not backing down from his criticism of Bo Nix; however, there is one line from his fiery postgame rant that the former NFL quarterback wishes he could erase.
Fitzpatrick took aim at the Denver Broncos quarterback after their narrow win over the Seattle Seahawks, questioning Nix’s approach despite the victory. The comments sparked plenty of debate, and now the Prime Video analyst has clarified where he thinks he went too far.
Ryan Fitzpatrick Admits He Went Too Far With Bo Nix Remark
On October 22, Fitzpatrick admitted that his remark about Nix being disrespectful to the quarterback position crossed a line.
“The line about being disrespectful to the Quarterback position, it boiled over and that’s the one phrase I wish I could take back… I think my criticism was fair so I do wish I could take that one line out and stand by that.”
Ryan Fitzpatrick responds to his criticism about Denver Broncos, QB Bo Nix. He states that he wishes he could take back ‘one phrase’:

The controversy began after the Broncos edged the Seahawks 17-14 in overtime. Nix completed 17 of 27 passes for just 107 yards, threw no touchdowns, and finished with a 71.1 passer rating. The Broncos managed only 168 total yards, yet walked away with the win after Sam Darnold threw an interception in overtime.
Fitzpatrick was not impressed by what he saw. During Prime Video’s postgame coverage, he questioned Nix’s aggression and suggested the quarterback was not competing at the level expected of an NFL starter.
Still, Fitzpatrick’s issue was not simply about the numbers; it pointed to Nix’s conservative passing approach and raised the question of whether something was affecting his play. He also acknowledged that quarterbacking is difficult, explaining why he did not focus as heavily on Darnold’s two interceptions.
The remarks drew pushback, including from former Broncos cornerback Aqib Talib, who took a swipe at Fitzpatrick’s own 17-year NFL career. Fitzpatrick responded humorously on social media, pretending that the two had resolved their differences over the phone. Despite the backlash, Fitzpatrick has not softened his overall stance. He believes Nix needs to show more urgency and aggression, especially when games get tight. His concern is that the QB has not consistently displayed the competitive edge that previously defined his game.
As for the signal-caller, the best response will come on the field. The Broncos have continued to win; however, their offense needs to produce more consistently to maintain their momentum. Fitzpatrick may regret his choice of words, but he has made one thing clear: he stands by the criticism, even if he wishes he’d delivered it differently.
