Saint Martin’s Island, one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations, is set to reopen to visitors on 1 November after remaining closed for nearly 10 months.
Under a government decision announced on Sunday (25 October), the country’s only coral island will welcome tourists from 1 November.
Teknaf upazila nirbahi officer (UNO) SM Anik Chowdhury confirmed the development to Prothom Alo.
According to the decision, the daily limit has been increased to 3,500 from the previous 2,000.
To help protect the environment, each tourist will have to pay an environmental conservation fee of Tk 100.
The Department of Environment will take the necessary measures in this regard under Rule 26 of the Environment Conservation Area Management Rules, 2016.
