- The crowd rallied behind the boy, chanting for the governor to hear him out, prompting Ntutu to personally wave security aside
- The boy broke down in tears as he spoke to the governor about his mother, an ECDE-trained teacher held back by a KSh 4,500 fee balance
A young boy from Narok moved a public gathering to tears after he walked up to Governor Patrick Ntutu at a county function, clutching a hen and a weathered brown envelope, determined to speak up for his mother.

Security officers intercepted the boy before he could reach the governor, but the crowd would not stand for it. Those present broke into a chant;
"Acha kijana aongee na Governor," meaning "Allow the young man to speak to his governor", until Ntutu himself stepped in and ordered his security detail to let the boy through.
What did Narok boy request from governor Ntutu?
What followed was a brief but deeply moving exchange. The boy, visibly emotional and shedding tears, told the governor about his mother, who had completed her Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) teacher training but had been unable to collect her certificates from her institution.

The reason was a fee balance of just KSh 4,500 — a small amount that had become a wall between her and her future.
Without those certificates, she could not pursue formal employment. The boy told the governor that his mother's only hope was him.
When Ntutu later took to the stage to address the crowd, he recounted the conversation himself, clearly moved by the boy's courage and desperation.
Rather than offer words alone, Ntutu responded with immediate action. He gave the family KSh 5,000 to clear the outstanding fee balance, then went a step further: he instructed the mother to collect her certificates and proceed directly to the governor's office to pick up her employment letter.
She was offered a position as an ECDE teacher under the Narok County government on the spot.
The moment, which captured both the vulnerability of ordinary Kenyans and the potential for leadership to respond with humanity, resonated widely.
A small boy armed with nothing more than a hen, an envelope and hope had walked into a public space and walked out having changed his family's circumstances entirely.
