Rachel Campos-Duffy publishes an excerpt from her interview with María Corina Machado in Panama: “The first thing I would say to President Trump, on behalf of the Venezuelan people, is how grateful we are because bringing Maduro to justice opened a great door for a path to freedom… Secondly, we have to finish the job, I think this will be his great legacy… Having a democratic Venezuela is the best deal for the USA”

MARÍA CORINA MACHADO BREAKS THE SILENCE! DENOUNCES EXCLUSION FROM NEGOTIATIONS AND QUESTIONS OIL CONTRACTS.

Opposition leader María Corina Machado launched strong criticisms regarding the transition process being negotiated in Caracas.
POLITICAL EXCLUSION: She denounced that her sector was sidelined from the negotiations between the interim government and other political actors, casting doubt on the legitimacy of the process.
OIL CONTRACTS: She questioned the transparency of the energy agreements with Washington and pointed to businessman Alejandro Betancourt as one of the main beneficiaries. She clarified that they will respect contracts that comply with Venezuelan legislation.
RETURN TO VENEZUELA: She confirmed her intention to return to the country soon.
JUSTICE AND HUMAN RIGHTS: She proposed an independent truth commission and demanded that those responsible for human rights violations be held accountable before the justice system.
WASHINGTON’S RESPONSE: According to the published information, the State Department maintains that Vente Venezuela was invited to participate in the negotiations. The big question is inevitable: can we speak of a democratic transition while one of the main opposition sectors denounces having been excluded from the negotiations? Venezuela needs a transition with legitimacy, transparency, justice, and free presidential elections.
