A video appearing to show First Lady Oluremi Tinubu handing President Bola Tinubu an unidentified substance during the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna State has sparked a wave of reactions on social media.
The footage, which emerged after Saturday’s rally, has generated speculation about what the First Lady handed to the President, with some social media users raising questions about his health and fitness for another term in office.
However, the substance has not been identified, and the footage does not independently establish whether it was medication or connected to any health condition.
President Tinubu attended the APC campaign flag-off in Kaduna ahead of the 2027 general elections. Vice President Kashim Shettima and his wife, Nana Shettima, also arrived in the state for the event.
Following the circulation of the video, several Nigerians took to social media to share their interpretations of the moment, with some expressing concern about the President’s appearance and others using the footage to criticise his administration.
Nigerians React To Viral Video
One social media user, @dee_9989, alleged that the President was given a drug or booster by his wife during the rally.
“Tinubu was caught on camera been given some sort of drug (booster) by his wife Remi Tinubu, at the Kaduna campaign ground. Tinubu is just a living dead…”
Another user, @BikeDWeb, reacted to the footage by questioning the country’s current situation.
“Look at the dude. Is there any surprise why Nigeria is where it is currently?”
Similarly, @SirOdigie wrote: “The dude is gone but struggling to keep his people out of prison.”
Speculating about the purpose of the substance, @OKARIAUKE commented: “To keep him awake for the next few minutes.”
Another user, @udokwe8655, drew a comparison with a previous public appearance by the President, writing: “Same thing that happened during his inauguration. She was right there injecting him. Quite a joke.”
Expressing concern about the President’s wellbeing, @hamzee14 said: “From what I am seeing this man isn’t feeling fine someone should advise him to go and rest.”
Meanwhile, @Hhonor wrote: “The man is slowly fading away.”
Another commenter, @MichaelOlaoye27, made a claim about the President’s physical condition, stating: “He is sick to the extent that one right hand is not functioning orrectly.”
Some users also questioned the influence of people surrounding the President and criticised the prospect of another four years under his administration.
@onejob wrote: “The man is very old, just a placeholder and people around him just want to use him to cash out.”
Another user, @AgainstGala, criticised the possibility of a second term for the President, writing: “Nigerians if u allow them another 4 years there will be nothing left when they leave. The man is clearly out of it and doesn’t know what’s happening around him. His Wife whom no one voted for is running the government.”

Similarly, @Jlemon commented: “Tinubu is gone…..We are ruled by Remi and seyi.”
In another reaction, @JudeHea alleged that the President was being given pills because he appeared drowsy during the event.
“Watch as Tinubu was being given pills on the campaign ground by his wife, Remi, in Kaduna, as he was getting drowsy, losing consciousness and about to fall off the seat.
“No wonder he said he would only attend the presidential campaign in 12 states. With what we saw in Kaduna, he may not even be able to go around the 12 states.
“This is a great disservice to Nigerians. Why will Nigerians always have to contend with old men in every election cycle? From Buhari to Tinubu, and Atiku is by the corner, still agitating at his age to be president too.
“If you see anyone supporting these old men to hold on to power, run from them because they are so evil.”
