Tandoor owners and citizens are frustrated over the rising cost of LPG, which has forced many tandoor owners to raise roti prices on their own.
Roti is now being sold for Rs 17 to Rs 20 in various areas. Tandoor owners claim that LPG, which should cost Rs300 per kg, is being sold at arbitrary rates, with some paying as much as Rs600 per kg, making a price hike unavoidable.
Citizens, however, say that whether it is LPG or roti, the administration and government must control prices. They complain that self-imposed hikes have left every shopkeeper free to charge whatever they wish, further burdening an inflation-hit public.
Residents have appealed to the price control magistrates and the deputy commissioner to enforce official rates and bring prices under control.
