The Mexican government has approved Reno Omokri’s appointment as Nigeria’s ambassador to the country.
Mr Omokri disclosed this in a post shared on X on Tuesday.
He said the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Mexico, José Flores, delivered the agrément confirming the Mexican government’s acceptance of his appointment.
An agrément is official approval for a diplomat to serve in another country. This marks his formal assumption of duty.
Mr Omokri will also serve as Nigeria’s ambassador to Guatemala, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
He has concurrent accreditation to the three countries.
“To God Be The Glory, The Chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the United Mexican States in Abuja, Mr José Manuel Briseño Flores, Today In Abuja Delivered The Agrément From The Government of the United Mexican States Accepting Me, Bemigho Reno Omokri, to Serve as Ambassador Extraordinaire and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the United Mexican States, With Concurrent Accreditation To The Republic of Guatemala, The Republic of Honduras, and The Republic of Nicaragua, to the Director of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, His Excellency, Ambassador Babagana Wakil,” he wrote.
