The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has extended the deadline for online submission of VAT returns for the July-September 2026 tax periods until 25 October, allowing taxpayers to file their returns without interest or penalties.
The extension was announced following amendments to VAT return filing provisions under the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty (Amendment) Ordinance, 2026, issued as part of the national budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year, according to an office order.
The amendments require administrative changes to the NBR’s Electronic VAT (eVAT) system to accommodate the revised return filing provisions. In the public interest, the NBR extended the deadline by exercising its powers under Section 64(2) of the Value Added Tax and Supplementary Duty Act, 2012.
