The Nigeria Correctional Service, Edo State Command, has declared a 28-year-old awaiting-trial inmate, Osita Thomas, wanted after he escaped during a court appearance in Auchi, Edo State.
The Service is appealing to members of the public to provide useful information that could lead to his arrest.
In a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Aminu Suleman, the inmate escaped last week while appearing in court over alleged conspiracy and stealing.
The Command is urging anyone with information on his whereabouts to report to the nearest correctional facility or police station, or call the numbers displayed on the screen.

The Controller of Corrections in Edo State says efforts are ongoing to recapture the fugitive, adding that security has been strengthened across custodial facilities.
However, a correctional service official has blamed the escape on inadequate manpower, explaining that the officer who escorted the inmate to court could not pursue him without risking the escape of other inmates in his custody.
The official further claimed that more than one thousand personnel are expected to retire this year, raising concerns over the need for urgent recruitment to prevent similar incidents.
