The Las Vegas Raiders’ season has hit a hurdle, having lost each of their last three games.
There is still room for optimism as Klint Kubiak continues to develop as a first-time head coach. The Raiders made an unbeaten 3-0 start which saw quarterback Kirk Cousins let it rip in what has been a strong start to the season for the veteran.
Despite drafting Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick of the 2026 NFL Draft, the Raiders have stuck with Cousins. This has had the approval of co-owner Tom Brady who was left seriously impressed at the weekend with Cousins’ performance.
Despite not commentating on the game against the Buffalo Bills at the weekend, Brady was able to catch up with the performance. Something he spotted from Cousins seriously impressed the future Hall of Fame quarterback.
Tom Brady seriously impressed by Kirk Cousins in Raiders loss
Cousins threw for 313 yards and two touchdowns on Sunday against the Bills as his impressive start to the season continued. Chasing the lead in the fourth quarter, Cousins threw an absolute dime to Tre Tucker for a 44-yard touchdown.
“That was an absolute dime that Kirk threw. Shout out to Trey Tucker. What an incredible catch, tracking that ball down the field and then laying out at the last minute to haul it in. Unbelievable throw and catch by those two,” Brady said on his Fox Sports’ power rankings.
Given the Raiders’ drop-off in form, there have been some conversations in the media about potentially seeing Fernando Mendoza come in as the starter over Cousins. However, the veteran has still been playing to a good level in these defeats.
Despite losing to the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots and the Buffalo Bills, Kubiak is backing Cousins ahead of this weekend’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. It is clear to see that the 38-year-old still very much has Brady’s backing too.
