GOTYME BANK Corp. is seeing faster growth in its customer base amid its expanded brand presence and offerings, with its availability on all XPay platforms also helping drive the increase.
GoTyme Bank President and Chief Executive Officer Nathaniel D. Clarke said their customer growth has picked up to 450,000-500,000 a month since July from just 250,000-300,000 a month previously.
Following this, they now expect to end the year with 12.5 million customers from 12 million previously. As of September, it has 11.5 million customers.
“I think as the brand continues to mature and people know us more. We’re seeing the majority of our customers are all organic, not what we call paid acquisition. So, I think it’s generally just more from informal referrals of friends and family. I would say generally, the brand getting stronger is linked to also the proposition getting wider,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a forum hosted by the Economic Journalists Association of the Philippines on Monday.
GoTyme Bank now offers consumer credit, installment purchases via MoreTyme, investments, and cross-border remittances through its partnership with Wise.
Mr. Clarke added that the rollout of Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Garmin Pay in the country over the past year, with GoTyme Bank being among the supported banks for all three upon launch, has helped them capture the younger demographic.
“Being the first and only bank to have all three of what we call the XPays is particularly helping in the younger demographic. Students, young professionals are signing up at a faster rate. So, as we see customer acquisition scaling, we’re actually seeing a younger demographic.”
With this, the bank expects its deposits to expand by 80% year on year. At present, its deposit base stands at P63 billion.
Transactions and loan disbursements are seen going up by more than 100% by the end of the year, he added.
“In terms of disbursement, that’s mostly driven by the MoreTyme product. The payroll lending is also growing among SMEs (small and medium enterprises), but the vast majority of the growth is that universal credit line MoreTyme,” he said.
Mr. Clarke added they expect to disburse P2 billion a month in loans by the end of the year from P1 billion previously, but also remain cautious about credit growth amid challenging economic conditions.
“I think we’ve probably been more conservative on credit growth than a lot of the other digital players. So, I think we’re fortunate. The other reason why we have not seen a significant deterioration is that we only lend to customers once they have an existing banking relationship in savings and transactions.”
With more than 650 kiosks deployed nationwide, Mr. Clarke said they aim to add another 100 kiosks in the next 12 to 16 months as they expand to more transport hubs and airports.
Despite higher acquisition costs due to strong customer growth, GoTyme Bank is on track to be profitable by 2027, he added.
“In the short term, the operating expenses will increase as we add an extra 200,000 customers per month. We’re still targeting profitability next year. Loan book growth and disbursements are also really good, so that helps us.”
GoTyme Bank’s gross loans stood at P13.73 billion at end-June, based on its balance sheet. Its gross nonperforming loan (NPL) ratio was at 3.74%, with a gross NPL coverage ratio of 146.11%.
The bank’s net loss narrowed to P2.95 billion in 2025 from P3.44 billion in 2024.
GoTyme Bank is a partnership between the Gokongwei group and Tyme Group. It began commercial operations in October 2022 and is one of the seven digital banks licensed by the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas. — A.M.C. Sy
