SAN LUIS POTOSÍ, Mexico — Ruth González Silva has emerged as the frontrunner in public perception for the 2027 gubernatorial election in San Luis Potosí, according to a new survey by MITOFSKY. González, representing the Green Party, holds a 44.5% lead in the \”perception of victory\” metric, significantly ahead of her primary competitors.
The survey identifies Enrique Galindo Ceballos, associated with the PAN and PRI, at 18.0% and Elí César Cervantes, representing Morena, at 13.1%. The gap between González and Galindo stands at 26.5 percentage points. Another 20.1% of respondents were unsure or did not respond as to who they believe will win.
The polling also highlighted a high level of public dissatisfaction with certain candidates. Galindo recorded the highest rejection rate in the study, with 37.5% of respondents stating they would never vote for him. Cervantes and González followed closely with rejection rates of 15.7% and 15.6%, respectively. Other minor candidates, including Paola Longoria López of Movimiento Ciudadano, saw even lower percentages.
High Engagement Amidst Uncertainty
Despite the competition, voter engagement remains high. The survey found that 78.3% of the population expressed a favorable inclination toward participating in the election, with 61.8% considering it \”very likely\” and 16.5% \”somewhat likely.\”
However, a significant portion of the electorate remains uninformed about the timeline of the vote. A notable 61.5% of respondents do not know when the next elections will take place, while only 24.4% correctly identified the year 2027.
Survey Methodology
The MITOFSKY poll was conducted between October 1 and October 4, 2026, among 1,200 citizens with valid voter IDs residing in San Luis Potosí. The study reported a general margin of error of ±2.8 percentage points with a 95% confidence level. It is important to note that the data reflects \”expectations of victory\” based on current sentiment rather than a definitive \”voting intention\” at this stage.
