More than 1.3 million young people have registered for the CM E-Bikes Scheme launched by the Punjab government, the highest registration count for any scheme in history.
According to official data, of the 607,399 online applicants, 292,863 are male and 314,445 are female.
Under the scheme, 100,000 young people will receive e-bikes through a lucky draw. Recipients will pay in monthly instalments of Rs3,000, while the Punjab government will bear the interest cost.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif directed officials to complete the e-bike distribution process at the earliest, citing the strong response from students across the province.
She also ordered free driving training for female students who qualify for the scheme.
CM said the government would provide all necessary resources to empower young people, particularly female students. She said the e-bikes would ease their commute and help them save on monthly expenses.
