Vans first collection with SZA is finally here.
Following a preview of the new collection during New York Fashion Week in September, the VF Corp.-owned footwear brand unveiled a new campaign featuring the “Kill Bill” singer wearing the new styles from the first drop of her new collaborative collection set to launch next week.
Captured by photographer India Sleem against California’s natural landscape, the campaign also features appearances by Vans Skate Team rider Zion Wright alongside models Caylee Blosenski and Isabella Carr, and SZA’s niece Savannah Rowe.
At the center of the first drop is the Vansza Knu Skool Mule transforms one of SZA’s favorite Vans styles through an easy-on mule construction, while the Vansza Authentic Kickdown sneaker combines custom artwork by Sage Adams, distressed canvas and a collapsible heel for easy on-and-off wear.
The collapsible heel design approach was born from SZA’s lifelong habit of stepping on the backs of her shoes and transforming that behavior into a functional feature.
“I love a mule and I love a slide-on,” SZA said in a statement. “So I needed everything to be slide-on-able. My mom has been telling me, ‘Please stop stepping on the back of your shoes’ my whole life. She hates it. So I put the design aspect in my shoes. I created a step-down shoe, and then I took the whole back off the Knu Skool because, why not? Less effort. More fun. More accessibility. More comfort. More color.”
The outdoor-inspired collection also features animal themes like fish and insects on both the shoes and the clothing. Some of the clothing offering includes oversized workwear-inspired outerwear and relaxed cargo silhouettes to expressive fish-inspired graphics T-shirts.
The first drop of the Vansza collection launches Oct. 22 at Vans retail locations and on Vans.com.
Ahead of the launch, SZA will make special in-store appearances for fans in the U.S., visiting Vans Glendale Galleria in California on Oct. 17 and Foot Locker at Freehold Raceway Mall in New Jersey on Oct. 21.
SZA joined Vans as its first artistic director in August 2025. At the time, the footwear company announced a multi-year creative partnership with the five-time Grammy winner. She showed off custom Vans sneakers and other styles from her collection during Paris Fashion Week in January.
