When it comes to Michael Foote being banished from the castle in The Traitors: New Blood, the wise words of The Chicks come to mind… “I’m not ready to make nice.”
**Spoiler alert: This article contains details from Episode 6 of The Traitors: New Blood, now streaming on Peacock**
In the latest episode of the TV phenomenon, the New York City-based attorney was sent packing by Faithfuls and Traitors alike, with his own alliance, The Dolls, turning on him and voting to send him into exile. While some Faithfuls who have left the game come out of the experience feeling defeated but ultimately hopeful that their teammates can take down the backstabbing Traitors before the clock runs out, Foote — a social media creator with nearly a million followers across platforms — says that he could not get himself to cheer on the very players who sent him packing, even if he wanted to.
“I am not rooting for The Dolls, are you crazy? I don’t forgive and I don’t forget. I think that was the stupidest decision to banish me on behalf of The Dolls,” Foote tells DECIDER in a post-mort chat. The Dolls — an alliance made up of Foote, Abbey Benjamin, Clyde Moser, and Ben McDonnell — ultimately voted with Victor Vollbrechthausen and the other players to banish Foote, giving the season’s three Traitors (Tomica Adams, Joe Vanella, and Katie Fites) another day to take out Faithfuls.
To that, Foote says he’s grateful he got out before everyone else’s lack of critical thinking led him to put even more time, energy, and effort into a game that he would ultimately lose.
“I’m so glad I’m not in that game, everyone is so fucking stupid. Thank God I’m out of that castle. The Faithfuls cannot find their asses with both hands and the Traitors aren’t necessarily nailing it either. So it’s like I am so glad I’m not a part of that dynamic anymore. It’s like leaving 15 toxic exes,” Foote jokes.
Check out DECIDER’s full chat with the banished Faithful below.
DECIDER: I love that you’re in a [recording] studio for this.
MICHAEL FOOTE: I’m not doing anything without that studio lighting. They said they said we want to Zoom, I said I’m gonna zoom my ass to midtown. I’m not doing this shit from home.
Oh my god, that reminds me that two seasons ago, when I did an interview with Danielle [Reyes], I think she was in her office at work. I was like, “Do your managers know about this?”
I mean, she was a hot mess on her season and it sounds like also at work, but good for her.
Michael, I’m so mad that I’m interviewing you right now because you should still be in the game.
Oh my God, I’m so glad I’m not in that game. Everyone is so fucking stupid. Thank God I’m out of that castle. The Faithfuls cannot find their asses with both hands and the Traitors aren’t necessarily nailing it either. So it’s like I am so glad I’m not a part of that dynamic anymore. It’s like leaving 15 toxic exes.
I do want to know, what was the moment of realization where you thought that the tide was turning and you might be getting banished?
Oh, baby, the tide had done been turned. My name was in people’s mouths the second I got out of that car because I’m a lawyer. I’m pretty well known on the Internet. People clocked me as the TikTok lawyer, as that immigration lawyer from Instagram; people knew who I was when I got out of the car, I already had a target on my back. So I said I’m going to swing big, I’m gonna be the gaggiest bitch in this castle. I’m gonna wear every fierce outfit that I brought that I want to wear in the front end of the season.
And let’s talk about the sweater. How do we get that sweater?
The sweater’s from J. Press, it is sold out. I actually had to fight for that sweater. The casting took forever to get on this show, and I said, “I’m not gonna jinx it and buy anything because then I won’t get on the show and I’ll have all the shit for Traitors.” The sweater was the one thing. We were like a week out from when they were supposed to tell me and one became available in my size and I was like, “I was gonna buy that sweater because I know even if I don’t get on Traitors, I’m going to wear that.”
Okay, but back to the content of the show, it seems like Tomica and Joe are on a warpath against Victor because of “FruitGate.” You’re a very strategic person. What is the best play in your mind? Where do you think they go from here if it was you up in that turret?
I don’t want to look at Victor any longer than I have to. I think he’s a stupid bitch. I hope he dies in a fire. If he ever comes to my neighborhood in New York, I think he should cross the street if he sees me coming. Honestly, I blacked out who he is. I think him meeting me in the castle was probably the most interesting thing that’s ever happened to him. So I think that when it comes to banishing or murdering this guy, Victor, I don’t really know him, I don’t think I’ve ever really met him, but I think that if they wanted to banish him, it would probably be nice to be rid of him. I would encourage them to do that.
I mean, I guess a reasonable follow-up is: you were in an alliance, The Dolls, are you rooting for anyone in the castle at the moment?
I am not rooting for The Dolls, are you crazy? I don’t forgive and I don’t forget. I think that was the stupidest decision to banish me on behalf of The Dolls. Some of The Doll have done post-show rehabilitation of their persona and image in my life, which I appreciate. Others have not.
I have to assume Abbey is probably one who has. She was fully sobbing.
Abbey is my best friend. She is my good Judy. I talk to her every night. Abbey and I have very lonely lives. I go to detention centers in America alone. My clients are detained. I pretty much, I have one colleague that is not in New York. I don’t have a life filled with a lot of people and Abbey cares for her disabled daughter full time. She and I are oftentimes home alone working, so she has become like a great friend after the show. Oh, and I thought that the dolls all conspired to get me out, it turns out it was just Clyde and Ben being really confused and anxious and afraid. They did not meet and consort with Abbey beforehand. There was no meeting of The Dolls to discuss me so I don’t really hold that against Abbey. I think she was kind of going with the flow on that vote. It was very clear I was the vote and like, I respect it. I don’t respect Ben and Clyde’s decision to vote me out. I think it was a really emotionally charged decision that they made out of fear. And I think if they really took maybe two seconds to think about it and say, “Okay, follow the logic: if Michael is a Traitor and we’re still here, he’s protecting us in the turret. Michael would never come for The Dolls until the very end, probably.” So I don’t really know what was going through their minds on that vote…And I will say Clyde’s the one person from The Dolls who has not called me since the castle.
Very true. Last question for you: Your reaction to finding out it’s Tomica, Joe, and Katie.
My reaction was, “This is elder abuse. Why are we making all the old people stay up late at night?” That was my reaction when I found out that we’re putting all these old ass grannies and aunties and uncles up in the turret? They should sue.
If Sherry [Kuehl] had been a part of that, it would have been a class action lawsuit.
Oh, and there was a fuck-up — and I’m gonna get in so much trouble for saying this — but there was a fuck-up and someone said that in my scroll it said Kriste not Katie. So I was like, “Oh my god, it is all the older players up in the fucking turret just eating the Zillennials alive.” I think I was like at the airport when I found out Katie was actually a Traitor.
