Camp Nou just got a little louder. Shortly after Spotify became FC Barcelona’s official kit sponsor in 2022, renaming their famed stadium Spotify Camp Nou as part of the deal, they introduced a new kit concept. The gist is simple: twice a season (once in the fall, once in the spring), FC Barcelona drops a limited-edition home jersey featuring an artist takeover, usually in the form of a music superstar’s logo in place of Spotify’s. The squad wears the shirt for a marquee match, usually the El Clásico showdown against Real Madrid, and it sells in limited numbers, often fetching ridiculous prices on the secondary market. Artists like Rosalía, Karol G, Travis Scott, and most recently Olivia Rodrigo have all been in the mix, but this season’s first takeover jersey takes the concept to another level thanks to Tyler, the Creator and his streetwear brand Golf Wang, who, for the first time, are launching a full line of apparel and accessories to go with it.
Golf Wang isn’t quite an institution on par with Barcelona (which turns 127 next month), but the brand has established its fashion bona fides over the last 15 years (which might as well be 50 in the fast-paced, unforgiving world of streetwear). It’s the hub from which many of Tyler’s fashion endeavors extend, from his Golf le Fleur work with Converse to a red-hot 2020 collection with Levi’s, and even Pluto Bleu, a limited-edition flavor of Jeni’s Ice Cream. Working with Barca, though—one of the sporting world’s most august institutions—is the brand’s biggest stage to date.

Barcelona has long been one of the top clubs in La Liga, Spain’s pro football league, with many of the greatest players of all time wearing its blue-and-burgundy blaugrana stripes: Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, Lamine Yamal, Ronaldinho—the list is long. The club’s accolades also include 29 La Liga titles, 5 Champions League titles, and 17 Ballon d’Or winners across both men’s and women’s teams. When Spain and Argentina faced off at this summer’s FIFA World Cup Final in New Jersey, nine players on the pitch were graduates of the team’s academy, La Masia.
All of which is to say that having your logo on the club’s jersey puts you in rarefied air. But Tyler, ever the iconoclast, didn’t stop there. Across a visual campaign directed by Tyler (including a video package equal parts cheeky and surreal), the team and brand reveal an array of streetwear and lifestyle apparel with a hypermodern slant and Golf Wang’s signature eclectic eye: bright colors, throwback silhouettes, and an ever-present reminder that streetwear doesn’t have to be so serious.

Highlights include the Copa de Golf track jacket, which draws on Barca’s rich apparel history for a retro vibe, and a varsity jacket that feels much more in line with modern streetwear sensibilities. There’s also a teal collared jersey (separate from the on-pitch design) with matching nylon shorts that are very easy to imagine Tyler himself wearing in one of Camp Nou’s box suites. And then, of course, there’s the jersey itself, which remixes the blaugrana stripes through the lens of Camp Nou’s ongoing $2 billion expansion, with color paneling meant to evoke the panels lining the legendary stadium’s facade. Featuring the word GOLF printed in bold sans serif type across the chest, the jersey is bound to confuse the less-streetwear-savvy Barca fans in the crowd, but that’s part of the joke. And pretty soon, a whole lot more people are going to be in on it.

Tyler’s Golf Wang x Barcelona collection hits stores today via GolfWang.com and all official Barcelona retail locations. Past editions sold at retail have come in numbered boxes with QR codes to validate their authenticity.
The jersey will make its pitch debut when Barcelona takes on Real Madrid in the latest El Clásico on October 25.
