The Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), has promoted more than 1,200 executives across various grades, ending a long wait of nearly seven years, according to confirmed sources.
The promotions, spanning from the junior-most levels to senior ranks, are expected to re-energise the executive workforce that has not seen any career advancement since 2019. This is seen as a key step in rebuilding confidence, motivation, and commitment towards the Navratna company, which is currently navigating a challenging phase.
A joint initiative by the RINL and the Union Ministry of Steel was pivotal in resolving this long-pending issue.
Sources emphasised that the promotion process was conducted in a ‘fair, transparent, and unbiased manner’, adhering strictly to prescribed criteria with due weightage to merit and eligibility.
“The promotions are expected to act as a catalyst, particularly in boosting the confidence of younger executives who will form the backbone of the organisation’s future. It acknowledges the long-standing contributions of senior executives who have stuck with the plant through thick and thin,” an official who got promoted told The Hindu.
Scores of executives, both senior and junior, expressed profound relief at the development, conveying their gratitude to the Steel Ministry and the RINL management.
